Our maxforlive.com Mirror Has Been Paused Since August 7, 2026
Short version: the max4.live catalogue stopped receiving new and updated devices from maxforlive.com on August 7, 2026. Everything that was in the catalogue on that day is still here and still searchable. Devices published on maxforlive.com after that date are not.
What happened
max4.live has always been an independent, unofficial index of the device library at maxforlive.com. Once an hour a small program read the public library listings, picked up new and updated devices, and refreshed our pages. Every device page credits maxforlive.com and links back to the original listing for the download.
On August 7, 2026, maxforlive.com started answering every request that doesn't come from a regular web browser with a Cloudflare security check. Ordinary visitors don't notice it, but automated tools, including our indexer, can no longer read the site. The last successful update of our catalogue was at 14:38 UTC that day. Our own monitoring failed to flag it, which is on us: the indexer recorded the error and carried on quietly. That's fixed now, and we'll know within the hour if anything like this happens again.
Why we're not working around it
The check covers the entire site and applies to every automated client, wherever it connects from. We read that as a clear decision by the people who run maxforlive.com that they don't want automated copies of their library, and we respect it. We won't try to disguise our indexer as a browser or route around the check. If the maxforlive.com team would like max4.live to keep listing their devices through an official feed or an approved crawler, we'd be glad to hear from them through our contact page.
What still works
- Search across the 9,000+ devices that were in the catalogue on August 7, with the same filters for device type and license.
- Every device page, with its description, versions, license and link to the original listing. The links go to maxforlive.com, which works normally in your browser.
- The author index, the best devices list, the guides and this blog. Blog posts are written from the catalogue we already have.
- The MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT, which searches the same catalogue.
What doesn't
- Devices first published on maxforlive.com after August 7, 2026 are missing.
- Updates to existing devices since then (new versions, changed descriptions, download counts) aren't reflected. Always check the original listing before you download.
- Our weekly "new devices" roundups have no new releases to cover, so the blog focuses on deep-dives, author spotlights and category picks.
What's next
We'd rather not depend on a single source we can't control. Max for Live authors can now list their devices on max4.live directly, with every listing reviewed by a person before it goes live: see Submit Your Max for Live Device to max4.live.
Thanks for using max4.live. If you spot something wrong in the catalogue, the contact page is the fastest way to reach us.
