About max4.live

Why This Exists

maxforlive.com is the official library for Max for Live devices, maintained by Cycling '74. It hosts thousands of incredible devices created by the community. However, its search functionality is limited — making it difficult to quickly find the right device when you need it.

max4.live was built to solve this problem. It provides fast, fuzzy full-text search across the entire Max for Live device library, letting you find what you need in seconds rather than minutes of browsing.

Respecting maxforlive.com

max4.live complements maxforlive.com; it doesn't replace it. Every device that comes from the maxforlive.com library credits it and links back to its original page, where you download the device, read comments and contact the author. Devices that authors submit to max4.live directly link to wherever the author publishes them. We do not host or distribute device files.

How It Works

Until August 7, 2026 we indexed the publicly available device metadata from maxforlive.com every hour (titles, descriptions, authors, version info, ratings) and built a static search page from it. On that date maxforlive.com began blocking automated access, so the catalogue is frozen at that point; we respect that decision and do not work around it (details). The search runs entirely in your browser using Fuse.js — no server-side processing, no tracking, no accounts needed.

Author Submissions

Max for Live authors can now list devices on max4.live directly with the submission form. Submitted devices are stored separately from the maxforlive.com data, carry their own IDs, are reviewed by a person before publishing and are marked "Submitted by the author". When a submitted device is also in the maxforlive.com catalogue, both appear on one page and both sources are credited.

Credits & Compliance

Devices and their descriptions belong to their authors; the maxforlive.com library belongs to its authors and Cycling '74. While we indexed it, our indexing followed the maxforlive.com Terms of Service. For details, see our Terms & Conditions.

Browsing and searching require no personal data; the optional device submission form stores the submitter's email only to manage the submission. See our Privacy Policy.
