Why This Exists

maxforlive.com is the official library for Max for Live devices, maintained by Cycling '74. It hosts thousands of incredible devices created by the community. However, its search functionality is limited — making it difficult to quickly find the right device when you need it.

max4.live was built to solve this problem. It provides fast, fuzzy full-text search across the entire Max for Live device library, letting you find what you need in seconds rather than minutes of browsing.

Not a Replacement

This is a complementary service, not a replacement for maxforlive.com. Every device listing links directly back to the original page on maxforlive.com where you can download the device, read comments, and interact with the author. We do not host or distribute any device files.

How It Works

We periodically index the publicly available device metadata from maxforlive.com (titles, descriptions, authors, version info, ratings) and build a static search page. The search runs entirely in your browser using Fuse.js — no server-side processing, no tracking, no accounts needed.
