Description

Device included in Album purchase on Bandcamp

Harmonizer is a MIDI effect that outputs up to four MIDI notes for every input note to create synchronized and arpeggiated harmony. The added notes are designed from the selected Pitch set based on the input note, which is the root of each chord, and the selected parameters. QUANTITY selects the amount of pitches in the Pitch set, and its permutations are created by using ORDER, POSITION, and QUALITY. ORDER selects the arrangement of the Pitch set. POSITION selects the rotation of the Pitch set from the selected ORDER. QUALITY selects the diatonic interval multiplied to the Pitch set from the selected ORDER and POSITION. In addition, REGISTER selects the amount of pitches, from the right, to be displaced upwards by an octave. This simply provides a larger spread between the notes without affecting its permutation.

The middle block of this device contains the GENUS, KEY & MODE, and four PITCH boxes. GENUS switches between the 12-tone Chromatic scale (normalized at 0) with a static Pitch set and the 7-tone Diatonic scale (normalized at 1) with a dynamic Pitch set. KEY selects the starting pitch of the scale from the selected MODE and GENUS. MODE selects the chromatic alteration to the diatonic interval from the selected QUALITY. PITCH selects each individual Pitch integer within the set, which are only positive and normalized to the selected GENUS.

Extra features include adjustments to MIDI input values and an arpeggiator. SOURCE switches MIDI inputs between Monophonic and Polyphonic. SHIFT increases the MIDI pitch value upwards from the input. GAIN decreases the MIDI velocity value downwards from the input. ARP selects the tempo-synched rate of arpeggiation (1/4 note - 1/128 note) or simultaneously (0 note) at the output. ROTATE selects the arpeggiation’s order (Linear, Angled, or Curved), position (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th), and direction (Obverse or Reverse). The keyboard displays the selected Pitch set in Pitch set class form.
