Description

Mosaïque is a free software instrument for musical creation and performance based on corpus-based concatenative synthesis (CBCS). It offers an immersive graphical representation to creators who wish to manipulate sound within a virtual timbral space. This sound synthesis technique analyzes large collections of audio samples (a “corpus”) and maps them into a graphical space according to timbral similarity. Musicians can then explore and play these sounds intuitively by navigating the visualized corpus.

Mosaïque is a collection of Max for Live instruments. It introduces ways of controlling CBCS for composition and performance. It enables users to:

- Build and visualize custom sound corpora.

- Navigate timbre spaces in real time using coordinates, audio descriptors and MIDI notes.

- Generate music by drawing trajectories through the corpus.

- Integrate seamlessly into creative workflows within Ableton Live or use independently in standalone form.

It has been tested in improvisation, composition, and live performance contexts. We hope it is playable and relevance to your way of making music. Please write if you want to share your experience working with it

Whoa!  This looks pretty amazing - I was shocked to see it was free.   Can't wait to give it a go.   Super appreciated!

Fantastic device, very fun to explore in lieu of documentation. It's great to have a free alternative to Dillon Bastan's Coalescence (which is also fantastic).
A suggestion: it would be nice to have a way to retrain the network in the settings tab. The only way I can figure out how to do this is to reload samples into one of the slots, but it would be great to have a button that would reanalyze the samples after changing the network parameters.
Also, I get a buffer overflow error when using the long-audio file slicer, which forces me to close the device after exporting slices. The audio slicer would make a great auxiliary device to handle corpus creation outside of mosaique, but it would be helpful just knowing what the upper limit is for slices.
Thank you for all the hard work going on behind the scenes here
