Description
Envelope Trigger combines an envelope with an on-off trigger/switch. Unlike M4L's Shaper, Envelope Trigger stays on when you trigger it – and toggles off when you trigger it again.
(I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do this in Live, so I made a patch for it.)
Envelope Trigger works exactly like Shaper, LFO, etc., so you map it to any parameter in Live and click the trigger button. It has separate Attack/Release envelope durations and curves, so you can switch the off-on and on-off slopes from logarithmic to linear to exponential.
Tips:
- I'm using it live for a HPF/low cut switch. Map a MIDI controller to the trigger button, map the device to a HPF Dry/Wet, set attack to something like 50 ms and release to 5 ms. This avoids the audible clicks you get if you would have mapped the MIDI controller to HPF Device On/Off directly (and saves you from messing with dummy MIDI envelope clips).
- Looking for a different envelope shape or depth? Combine Trigger with Shaper on Manual mode. Map Trigger to Shaper Manual parameter, map Shaper to your destination parameter. Adjust Shaper parameters to taste.
