Description

This is a free controller that you can use to automate and control your Roland System-1 synthesizer. It includes all the features from Roland’s updates up to V1.20.

Features:

- All features from V1.20 have been implemented;

- 6 new waveforms for oscillators

- The ability to change the bender range

- Coarse tuning for OSC2

- Properly named controls for automation

Usage:

1. Drop the controller on an empty MIDI track.

2. Drop an External Instrument device after it. Find it under Instruments > External Instrument.

3. Pick your System-1 as the MIDI out from the External Instrument to send MIDI data to System-1.

Knob changes work without setting System-1 as the MIDI input- the plugin does not require you to have the System-1 as the MIDI input on your channel to capture knob changes from the System-1. All MIDI CC channels have been wired up for you.

    Thanks for this device.
I'm having trouble getting it to recognize a few controls when using the System-1 hardware:
-Any of the Osc1 and Osc2 waveform types selected from the second variation (the new waveforms)
    -Polyphony selection
Those seem to work in the opposite direction. That is, I can change those parameters in Ableton via mouse or Push and the System-1 hardware responds. It's just when using the System-1 hardware that the device doesn't respond.

Hello @Wisdom, thank you for the note! I've updated the device. It now also captures knob changes without setting the System-1 as the track MIDI input, just pick the S1 input channel in the plugin itself.

Also about seeing the extra waveforms in the plugin while changing on the device, sometimes it requires a few sweeps left to right across the waveforms to register that you're pushing down on the legato button. I'm investigating if I can get rid of that!

Hi, is there a way to send a snapshot of the hardwares selected preset back to the m4l device to position the macros. When i use a preset it seems to change the sound to where the macros are.

Sorry to add to last comment, its when i press play and ableton is sending note midi back to S1.
I think the only way round this at the moment is to position every setting and macro on the m4l device to where they are on the units preset and then store that as one of the m4l's presets
Then create a list of digital presets instead of in the S1

What would be amazing is if it could read the backup files that we save from the S1 to our pc's folder then we could maybe drag n drop or select them like we do for the unit but in Abletons browser instead to the m4l
