Description

The Tintinnabulator puts Arvo Pärt's tintinnabulation technique into real-time MIDI processing. Super simple and fun. It features 4 T-voice 'inversions', mirroring as well as free and synced delays. It was built to teach the concept and now I use all the time in composition and performance.

Free to experiment till next version. Hope you enjoy.

hey, your device is great, but it blocks MIDI meesages except notes : can’t use Aftertouch or Mod Wheel.

Thank you for spotting that phillos! Device now updated (to 1.4) to let all MIDI data through (but still allow M-voice muting).

i may edit this to include additional quantization values of 32n - 256n ... do you mind? would you like me to send it to you?
  • miltonline · September 16 2021
Hey evolvetek! Yes go ahead. Although I have already implemented in 1.5 which has some other tweaks which I'll post soon. 256n is perhaps a bit too granular at most tempi but why not. There is also a 'free' ms delay if you just want a slight flam. The device could also go in a chain and have it's own delay devices (with the M-voice muted) so you have complete control...

I just LOVE this device. Which is why I'm sad. It's not reliable for me.
Changing the delay time works sometimes.
And in some instances the Random function is just on, no matter what I do.
I have 1.4, is there any chance of the update addressing these 'features'?

    Hi GiantEar,
Glad you are enjoying the free prototype and thanks for reporting issues. I've not seen or heard of either of these. Are you saying that you can't turn off random, and sometimes the delay is not instigated even when selected? Can you replicate the issue and let me know the causes? Cheers!
  • GiantEar · December 19 2021
That's correct. It seems pretty intermittent. Deleting the device, then putting in a new fresh instance makes it work well. Then after changing parameter for while it just gets stuck.
Random: I turn it on, then off, then on, then off but it now remains in random mode.
Delay: I change the delay time to various notes, 1/4, 1/8, 1 bar, etc. Then it will just stay on the last selection regardless of my clicking other delay buttons.
I hope this helps. Holler back with any questions.
