Description
A BIG fixed frequency highpass filter. Move it around and you get phaser-ish sounds, this effect/technique is most notably heard on dub records. Try placing it before or after time based effects... delay/reverb. enjoy!
The Altec 9069B is a 3rd-order high pass filter with an attenuation slope of 18dB/octave. King Tubby had an 9059B built into his console, known as the “Big Knob” (audio-merge). Osbourne Ruddock (28 January 1941 – 6 February 1989), better known as King Tubby, was a Jamaican sound engineer who greatly influenced dub in the 1960s and 1970s (wikipedia).
