Description

Pure Tone is an additive synthesizer designed for musicians seeking precise control over their sound. It enables playing in Pure Temperament with perfectly ratioed intervals, regardless of key changes. This is made possible through a dynamic tuning algorithm that adjusts in real-time to the notes being played, ensuring harmonious output regardless of the musical context. Beyond tuning, Pure Tone offers the flexibility to modify the tone, ADSR (Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release), and amplitude for up to 15 overtones in the harmonic series. This feature provides a broad spectrum of tonal possibilities, from closely mimicking the timbres of physical instruments to creating entirely unique sounds. Whether you're exploring new musical landscapes or seeking to enrich your compositions with nuanced tones, Pure Tone offers a versatile platform for sonic experimentation. In the new version, a sampler is added so that you can use real instrument samples.

The device can be downloaded as a Max for Live device for Ableton or as a standalone application for Windows or Mac.

You can hear audio comparisons of the device playing the same tunes in both Equal Temperament and Pure Harmony above on the SoundCloud page or here. Clip names with an "ET" means it's played in Equal temperament, and the ones without are played in Pure Harmony.
