Description

Spectral Bloom is a Max for Live audio effect designed by Stephen Black for creating evolving harmonic textures that unfold through time and stereo space in sync with Live’s tempo.

The device derives additional harmonic content from the incoming signal, shaping it with controlled harmonic distortion before passing it into a tempo-synchronised delay with independent left and right timing. This signal is then fed into a tempo-locked spatial movement stage, allowing sounds to gently shift position and perceived distance within the stereo field.

Rather than functioning as a conventional delay or modulation effect, Spectral Bloom is intended for slow, musical transformation. It is particularly well suited to pads, drones, sustained instruments, and textural material where subtle motion and harmonic development are desired.

All modulation and movement is tempo-aware, ensuring the effect feels stable, cohesive, and musically integrated within a mix rather than random or exaggerated.
