Description

UPDATE: This version cleans up the MIDI implementation a bit, with more clearly named automation parameters, and saving of color-value states.

This is a device I made, that mimics the rhythm and pitch relationships of a Rhythmicon, a device created by Leon Theremin for Henry Cowell in ~1932. This M4L device is based on (with permission) the original Max patch by Greg Dixon: http://www.gregdixonmusic.com/?page_id=53

I altered it to be compatible with Ableton Live, added multi-channel MIDI support, and added per-channel visuals.

Transport must be running, as it works off the current Live tempo. NOTE: Transport must be Start/Stopped once and then everything works correctly after starting it again... something to do with the original implementation...

Basically you click the boxes for the 16 rhythms, and then use the included VVR_MIDI_Reciever on a seperate MIDI channel to tell whatever instrument you choose to "listen" to whichever channel/rhythms you want. Pitches are detemined by the "Fundamental", and are generated for each channel according to the rules set out by Cowell in "New Musical Resources" as implemented by Dixon.
