Description

This is a simple monophonic synth designed to create kick drums, sub basses for layering with kick drums or other percussive sounds. But of course you can also use it to create weird stuff. It works similar to Nicky Romero's Plugin "Kick" or "Kick2". But it's simpler. I really like simple stuff.

It features a single oscillator. You can blend it's waveform between sine and triangle. In addition you have two envelopes, one for volume, one for pitch. Tweaking the pitch envelope (especially at it's beginning) has a tremendous impact on how the result sounds. There is also a simple saturation or drive function.

You can save and recall presets within the device. Furthermore you can write your presets to a file to load them in another instance of Kixine.

Device settings (including presets) will be saved with your live project.

Kixine is free. So use it and have fun with it. In case you use parts of it for your own creation, it would be nice if you tell me. Being mentioned somewhere in your program is also a nice thing.

I did this in my spare time, therefore the device is probably not bugfree, but i hope i can fix most or all of the bugs in the future.

    this is by far the simplest, yet most effective devices for max ive come across...10/10. I will let you know if I encounter bugs but wow. Ive been making kicks and ZAPS as fills and it works so well. Its such a simple fun sound design tool.

    One question what is the Grid Box for? I cant seem to click it, it doesnt do anything, is that where presets are saved???
  • Clemens3000 · February 04 2022
    Hi WHZLY,
    yes, that's the preset area. Hover over it with the mouse and ableton's hint box will display how to use it (as for most of the device's GUI elements). but here a short summary:
    click => recall preset
    shift+click => save preset
    shift+opt+click => delete preset
    Maybe i should put this info also into the about window.
    glad you like it!

    Hey Clemens, thank you for sharing this device, it's pretty useful ! Would be great to add a function to delete enveloppes points with a right click, don't you think ? In any case well done for your work !

    I was thinking about that already. But by now i think that this is just the normal behaviour of most Max For Live devices that use the function object. So i thought it would be best, to not change that, because that might rather confuse people.
