Description

The Gesture is a three-device pack that converts any gesture into note patterns. All devices feature a key parameter called the 'mapper' dial. By assigning any modulation signal (such as LFOs, envelope followers, or my DeltaSleep EEG device) to the mapper dial, each Gesture device can 'communicate'. Notes are emitted only when Live Transport is active. Here is a description of each device in the pack:

**Gesture - Drum Rack**: Designed for use with Live Drum Racks, this device represents the typical 16 drum pads. Each pad can be toggled on or off to activate or deactivate the corresponding note (e.g., you can keep only the pads triggering the kick, snare, and hat active). At the bottom of the device is an arrow that, when clicked, shifts the root note of the 16 pads. This allows the Gesture device to focus on different pad blocks within the Live Drum Rack.

**Gesture - Melody Maker:** Like the Drum Rack, the Melody Maker generates MIDI notes when the Mapper dial is assigned to a modulation signal. However, in this case, you can select the root note around which the notes are generated (defaulting to C3). The note range spans from one octave below to one octave above the chosen root note. The note length can be adjusted via the slider at the bottom (I will soon add the possibility to have note lenghts quantized to Live transport). The piano roll is provided solely for visualization purposes.

**Gesture - Whole Scale**: This abstraction features only the standard Mapper dial, as it outputs MIDI notes that directly correspond to the amplitude of the modulation signal. Modulation signals are typically expressed from 0 to 127, matching MIDI note pitch values. Thus, if the modulation signal is at 60 at a given moment, the Whole Scale device will output MIDI note 60, corresponding to C3, and so forth for the entire MIDI note range.

Have fun!
