Description
Sounds born from sampling error
VIDEO DEMO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHmH1e6JpL0
Sampling a sound at a low sample rate ⏬ creates aliases (replicas of the original sound’s spectrum) at intervals defined by the sample rate, leading to distortion ⚡.
In classic redux/resampling effects, the pitch 🎵 of the timbre often changes inconsistently with the original.
👉 Serror devices calculate the input pitch and tune the resampling effect to create harmonic aliases ✨ and reduce non-harmonic distortions ❌.
🎹 serror instrument
Starting sound = a sine wave 🌊 → resampled to a sample rate multiple of the input pitch 🎶 → adds harmonics ✨ → richer sound.
Parameters:
📈 ADSR graph – sets the dynamic envelope
🎚️ detune – deviation from perfect pitch multiple
📊 detune % – depth of ADSR on detune
➗ ratio – multiplication factor of the new sample rate
🎚️ LPF frequency – low-pass filter cutoff
📊 LPF % – depth of ADSR on LPF cutoff
🎧 wide – stereo width
🌀 glide – time between following notes
🎛️ serrorFX effect
Like the instrument, but applied to any input sound 🎤.
Pitch can be:
🎵 auto (pitch tracking)
🎲 random (different on each onset)
📌 fixed
Parameters:
🎚️ detune / detune %
➗ ratio + ratio mode (count, random, fixed)
🎚️ LPF frequency / LPF %
🌀 glide
🎼 mode (auto, random, fixed)
Onset notes 🎹 trigger impacts on filter + detune (if % > 0).
🌊 smooth – softens attack
🕰️ decay – extends tail
