Description
Introducing the 36db dbmx-1980, a Max for Live device inspired by the classic hardware delays and effects that shaped modern music.
It captures the movement, colour and depth of vintage gear and brings it into a fluid, modern workflow inside Ableton Live™.
From shimmering choruses and grainy delays to evolving modulations and saturated atmospheres, the dbmx-1980 moves easily between vintage warmth and experimental texture, all without breaking your flow.
Why dbmx-1980?
We’ve spent years in studios and developed a deep respect for the processors that defined space and tone in the 80s. A key inspiration for this device is the AMS 1580S, a late-70s delay that became a favourite of artists like Brian Eno, Jean-Michel Jarre, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Chemical Brothers, Orbital and many more. The few surviving units are expensive, rare and unpredictable.
The dbmx-1980 isn’t a clone. It carries that spirit forward—blending analog unpredictability with modern precision—so you can sculpt everything from clean motion to chaotic colour, right inside Live.
