Generative Scale is a Max for Live device that generates random MIDI notes with adjustable probability and randomized dynamics for each note. It features two probability modes, quick scale selection in all keys and modes, and a clock speed that can be set in Hz or synced to the project tempo.

Use the dials below each note to adjust the playback probability or turn them all the way to the left to disable them.

Helpful tips:

Always record on a new audio track: MIDI notes won’t be written in the score, allowing you to fully unleash the device’s creative potential.

Try it with drum machines to create unpredictable and dynamic rhythmic patterns.

Additionally, it is a useful tool for visualizing which notes belong to a given scale.
