Description
Simple dual sine wave binaural beats generator. Use in headphones!
This device plays one sine wave on each ear cup allowing you to set a difference (the beat) of the right ear cup. A Fletcher-Munson curve takes care of perceived loudness differences, scaling the output. The output can be tilted to be monaural via a built in mid/side amp, amplifying the difference creating a third wave via phasing. A similar result can be achieved using the AM dial to amplitude modulate the output. Used in combination, interesting isochronic tone-type patterns can occur, but the experience is no longer binaural, i.e. the difference wave is not generated in your brain but in your headphones. Check for monaurality by lifting up one ear-cup. If you hear a pulsing wave, the experience is monaural.
Triple waveform display shows carrier, carrier+beat and combined (monaural) waveform, visually reinforcing the beat. Yes it sometimes overshoots the borders, I like how it looks. Rough midi support is built in, but it's not fine-tuned, has no ADSR and only works in the range of 20-300Hz.
A web implementation can be found on itch.io. Versions differ.
