Seems very useful, good job! Can I ask, what if I don't have a midi clip but only a midi generator on the track? What is the length going to be?
  • JudaBaduda · July 24 2025
This device is only for printing MIDI effects as MIDI Generators already print the MIDI information by default
  • griefstew · July 26 2025
Opens a new channel but nothing gets printed becuase it defaults to "post FX" input which doesn't include MIDI. Also, sometimes crashes the program, freezes it for a long period, or adds an additional track when hitting "stop" after use. (Using version 12.2).
You're better off just adding a new "MIDI Print" track and choosing the input yourself.
    Wasted $5.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. You are absolutely right and I just released an update 1.3 that solves this issue and also add an option to auto-delete the MIDI effects on the original track.
Please let me know if you have any other issues.
  • griefstew · July 27 2025
Okay. It's printing the MIDI data to a new track now, but it's putting a random synth from my plugin collection on the new track; as well as the MIDI sequencer and modulation devices from the target track. It also freezes Ableton for several seconds, both when you engage the plugin and stop playback.
I'm happy to send you a screengrab of the issues if it's helpful.

^ it's also causing freezing within my session even when I'm not using the device. When I stop audio, or click on new trackers, I get freezing. When I remove MIDI Bounce, these problems disappear.

I've updated the device again, please let me know if you're issues persist.
If they do, please feel free to email me [email protected] and hopefully we can solve them.

Yes, I mean generative midi fx, not generators (my bad). How does it know when to stop printing the midi info aka the recording length?
  • JudaBaduda · August 05 2025
For generative MIDI effects that create their own midi you will need to create an empty MIDI clip for as long as you want the bounce to be.
This might be a good feature to add in the next update. Just another toggle with a bar length or something like that.

Ok, this makes sense. I will have a go, thanks!
  • jimbeam · August 20 2025
Ok, I made it work with an empty clip of a chosen length. The trick is to hit play on the empty clip at least once (and then stop).

Hi! The device description says "Live 10 or newer" implying that this plugin would work on Live 10. It does not. This is disappointing as I specifically bought this to use with Live 10. And I am unable to modify the deice to fix this problem myself

Yeah unfortunately this is very broken. It's a great concept but unusable right now. Doesn't actually do much beyond disable the midi FX and create a new midi track, while also making the session very unstable with a lot of unwanted background actions causing issues.
  • noneforyouowls · February 15 2026
Okay it's less broken than first glance. I can make it work as expected relatively easily now but it seems to get disrupted by things that you may have changed as part of your default workflow. Like if you have "Start transport on record" disabled, it won't work properly. Also having other M4L devices that do things automatically (I have an auto colour device on all my masters) seems to cause issues as well. But it does work very well, with some caveats.
