Overview

Phase Field is a Generator-type MIDI Tool for Ableton Live 12 that derives melody patterns directly from animated visualisations. It features real-time Lissajous curves that weave and phase through harmonic ratios, extracting MIDI data straight from its motion and shape. Pitch, velocity and note length all flow from the visual behaviour itself.

Q: Is this just random notes?

A: No. Each device uses deterministic mathematical systems. The same animation state produces the same pattern.

Q: Can I edit the notes afterwards?

A: Absolutely. Patterns are printed directly into the clip so you can tweak, rearrange or build on them however you like.

Q: What's Auto mode?

A: When enabled, patterns regenerate automatically at the selected rate division while playback runs, creating continuously evolving sequences.
