Description

bve.reversedstretch creates lush textural layers by playing back recorded audio in a reversed manner and stretching and/or transposing the recorded material. It works best when used in combination with instruments that have a fast attack and a slow decay (f.i. a piano). Since the process isn't quantized it's not recommended to use this device with beats.

    Hi Ithkaa
For some reason the device doesn't work in Live. It records the audio, but the playback never starts.
It starts working when it's in edit mode, but not completely though. Only the first buffer plays.
It doesn't look like soothing is missing from the patch, but I didn't invest a lot.

    (using Max 7 of course)

Hi Crampe, I reuploaded the device ... should be fixed now!
  • Crampe · December 15 2014
    Yep, fixed. Excellent device !
I've noticed another thing though. If you use more than 1 device in the same set, it looks like the buffers are shared or something between devices.
So we can't really use more than a single device per set.

@Crampe true ... I'll look into it for future versions

    Dickheads, well...
Patch created in Max 7 are backward compatible, but there's new objects and some of them are not backward compatible, because they make use of new technology.
So if your Max7 patch uses one of this new objects, ti won't work in previous version, and that makes complete sense ihmo.
These incompatible objects deals with stretching and pitch manipulation mostly, and this RevStretchR is based on this.

@Crampe Updated the device. you should now be able to use multiple instances simultaneously. Could you check it out? Let me know if anything doesn't work for you.
@M4L this device relies heavily on some new features of the groove~ object (stretching/transposing) in max 7. I know that not everybody has upgraded (or will ever upgrade) but I want to share this device with those who did.

Looks great, will have to check it out soon! I thought it was interesting that such a similar patch to mine came out right next to each other haha, I guess we were thinking along the same lines.
  • ithkaa · December 17 2014
@ndivuyo looks like your patch has a lot more functionality ... great stuff! RevStretchR simply reverses/stretches the recorded audio and adds some delay and reverb to create atmospheric textures ...
  • ndivuyo · December 17 2014
Limitations and simplicity give different results, and an arena for sounds unique to that instrument/patch. Yea, you're right they're definitely different, I was just thinking the overall format was similar, it was cool!

@M4L : I think you should definitly turn to Bitwig... Or maybe develop your own objects programming software, because you seem to be a really smart ass !
  • 11olsen · December 22 2014
@M4L I think you got it wrong. afaik max 7 is free for everyone to install and use. Only saving will be disabled until you pay.
  • 11olsen · December 22 2014
And if i remember correctly, ableton has the same "try witout saving" option.
that means anyone could try a m4l device at home without paying anything.
he just won't be able to save Max-patches or Live-projects.
