Description

Hello everyone, inspired by the idea of the AI-generated music by Mubert, I had a new device for Live. I hang it on the tracks before sending it to check how different loops sound with each other. Clip Trigger launches different clips on the track with "Universe Random", like Follow Action in Live, but wiser. The device knows the length of the clip and repeats it wisely, + you can add a stop at a certain moment before changing the clip and the number of repetitions. In the future, I think it will be added an automatic assignment of repeats, depending on the clip length, a start offset, and an aggregate device so that you can select the desired number of tracks. But it's like something later, and for now, you need to drop the device on each track. 🙂 Pleasant randomization.

Please, support if you'd like this devices

    This is fantastic

Thank you! Wonder if you could make a toggle to choose random or just next clip?
  • zaSLON · August 12 2019
Hey @broah! Thank you! That's a pretty cool idea! That toggle will come in the next version. Stay tined.

Noticed a bug - when changing the stop beat to 0 it tries to trigger the next clip, but then immediately stops it before it plays.
Also, no matter what, the device changes the global quantization to 1/4
Everything else seems to be working tho. :D

Any chance it could be a MIDI device as well? :D

Hey @broah! Thanks for you interest and feedback. As for the stop 0 - I’ll check out this, strange bug. As for the global quantization - yes, unfortunately that's is necessary for fractional values of clip lengths, if, for example, the length is not a full beat, I'm trying to avoid this, but without success so far. As for midi - what are the benefits? if you also need to run midi clips - just drop this device onto the midi track and it will work with midi clips as well. ))

It just creates an additional audio output lane, that's all. I have many dedicated MIDI only tracks with other types of effects, that interrupts the 'MIDI to' functionality when and audio effect is added to the chain. :)

Ok, got it, @broah. No problem, stay tuned :)

@zaSLON found this device that seems like it may be useful in figuring out the quantization issue that cuts off the last fraction of the beat we were talking about. Check it out:
