Proxemics builds unique rhythm patterns by deriving a correlation between two different value signals. Once those two signals reach a threshold of nearness between each other’s, the device pings a Midi note. The same when those signals moves away and pass again the threshold, the device bangs another Midi note. Those two signals can either be based on internal cycle, constant or more complex external ones.

EDWARD T. HALL, the american anthropologist, coined the term “Proxemics” as the study of physical distance set between people in an interaction. Indeed, social distances between people are reliably correlated with physical distances. Those distances can vary from one culture to the other, but entering in somebody’s close space always produces strong emotional or behavioural reactions.
