Description
CPHN FETTY
A free (for beta test stage) 1176-inspired FET compressor/limiter for Max for Live.
CPHN FETTY is built for fast, punchy, input-driven compression with a classic FET-style workflow:
Drive the Input harder for more gain reduction, trim with Output, and choose between 4, 8, 12, 20, or ALL ratio modes.
It is not a circuit clone, but a musical approximation focused on the recognizable behavior: fast attack, quick program-dependent release, assertive gain reduction, parallel compression, and a clean vintage-style GR meter.
Features:
Stereo Max for Live Audio Effect
1176-style fixed-threshold, input-driven compression
Ratio modes: 4, 8, 12, 20, ALL
Reversed Attack/Release behavior, clockwise = faster
Program-dependent release
Mix control for parallel compression
Stereo Link control
Detector HPF
Optional Auto Gain
Optional analog-style noise
Color/Saturation control, defaulting clean at 0
Custom gain-reduction VU meter
Compact Ableton-friendly UI
Best used on vocals, drums, bass, room mics, parallel buses, and anything that needs fast compression with attitude. ALL mode is intentionally more aggressive and pumpy for crush-style effects.
Preset Descriptions
Vocal Leveler
Smooth, steady vocal compression with moderate 4:1 control. Good for keeping vocals present without making them feel crushed.
Vocal Aggro
More forward and assertive vocal compression. Higher ratio, faster timing, and more color for energetic or dense mixes.
Bass Control
Slower attack with moderate compression to keep bass stable while preserving some note attack and weight.
Drum Smash
ALL-mode parallel-style drum crushing. Fast, aggressive, pumpy, and meant for excitement rather than transparency.
Parallel Room Crush
Heavy ALL-mode compression with low Mix for room mics, drum buses, ambience, and exaggerated sustain.
Gentle Color
Minimal compression with added tone. Useful when you want the device’s character more than obvious gain reduction.
This is a native Max for Live device made as an 1176-inspired compressor, not an official emulation or affiliated product.
