Description
GateArp was an idea carlosbtlr( check out his devices) had that I made using my 3 gates interface as a tool to create arpeggios by transforming chords in a clip.
It's divided into two sections, Pitch and Gate.
Gate, bottom, uses one row of gates to determine the pattern based on the amount of steps and the length of the pattern with controls for randomizing, shuffling, and inverting the pattern. In the bottom right are controls to quantize, make legato and "retrigger" the pattern.
With retrigger off the pattern with continue across all chords uninterrupted, with retrigger on the pattern will reset at the beginning of each chord.
Pitch, top, uses a grid to determine the pattern of the pitches.
you can set how many steps to use and the range of steps 2-12.
Clicking in the grid will place a note corresponding to that note in the chord, if the chord only has 3 notes but there's a range of 4 you can choose wether the note should be transposed up or down an octave or left at the original pitch.
There's also a retrigger option for the pitch pattern that works independently from the gates retrigger.
It makes a lot more sense once you've played around with it for a while:)
